This is to introduce you a new teachers training scheme named as PGDT which is recently in corporate in to the University's short and long term plan. The abbreviation PGDT stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching program that applicants who seek to be a secondary school teacher can apply for in it after having earned a first degree from acclaimed University. The program has been launched since July 2011 in ten Universities including Wollega University.Post graduate diploma in teaching is planned to consist of three terms of training which covers two summer and one job training. About 337 candidates have been admitted to the program in 2011 academic year. Of these admitters 334 have successfully completed the first phase and went out for on job training. The on job training comprises practicum and reading in two courses of studies. Novice teachers are expected to work out practicum at school with the support and guidance from school mentors.
