Continuing Education Program
Continuing education program (CEP) was launched in Wollega University in a year 2007, on February by having enrolled 250 students in five departments namely, Computer Science, Law, Economics, Business Management and accounting in serving the community parallel with regular program.
At present, CEP running its educational activities in three campuses namely, Nekemte (main campus), Gimbi and Shambo campus. The mode of delivering education is evening, summer and weekend. In the main campus there are about 3781 CEP students attending their education in 15 departments and about 8 school/faculties (faculty of language and journalism, faculty of natural science, faculty of technology, school of economics and school of cooperative and Management). In Gimbi campus there are about 120 CEP students. In shambu campus there are about 519 CEP students in five departments (Economics, Civics, Sociology, Afaan Oromo and Plant science). This year about 738 CEP students are graduating from the University among this 99 CEP students are from shambu campus, about 600 CEP students from main campus and 39 CEP students are from Gimbi campus. Continuing education program provides the community by giving education that the society needs, like engineering health science and Social science and so on. The CEP will plan to provide the community in education effectively and efficiently to attain the development and transformation plan of the country. In line to this plan the CEP has a brief vision that will be attained in next five years; these include producing competent citizens and high skilled professionals that could play a relevant role for the development of the country.
