WU-HAPCO Vision and Mission

Vision

To be a center of excellence in creating an informed and well protected university and surrounding community and to see community where by HIV/AIDS no longer has a negative impact in social and economic development

Mission

To create a healthy and supportive environment for students, instructors, supportive staffs, programmers, sections, schools, faculties and the surrounding community through provision of compressive HIV/AID service

Activities of WU-HAPPCO

The WU-HAPPCO strive its best to block life treating disease from Wollega University and its surrounding disease from Wollega University and its surrounding community. Some of the actives done by WUHAPCO are;

1.Capacity building


1.1Giving TOT on HIV/AIDS, abortion, STI (Sexually transmitted infection), GBV (Gender based violence), SRH (sexually            reproductive health) SRHS(sexully reproductive health right) for;
  • Anti HIV/AIDS movement members of WU
  • All class representative
  • Two students each selected from 11 schools in Nekemte
  • Two individuals each selected from 11 youth clubs in Nekemte Town
1.2 Training of peer education facilitators for
  • Selected students of Wollega University
  • Selected students from 11 schools in Nekemte town
  • Selected members from 11 youth clubs in Nekemete town
1.3 establishment of WU-HIV/AIDS resource center
1.4 Equipping and establishment of WU-Anti AIDS movement among students
1.5 Community conversation on HIV/AIDS, Condom use, Discrimination,ART,Abortion,GBV and HTPs (harmful traditional practices)at;
  • Gute Town and
  • Diga Town
2. Out reach interventions
2.1 Out reach intervention on commercial sex works in Nekemte town
2.2 Out reach intervension on high school students at;
  • Diga High School
  • Gute high school
2.3. Out reach on orphan in collaboration with Nekemte HAPCO and PLWHA association
2.4 Community mobilization on HIV/AIDS and RH by Conducting stage form threater at market and community meeting       at Nekemte, Shambu, sire and Gimbi town
3. Voluntary counseling services and contraceptive usage
  • Conducting VCT campaign once a year
  • Regular VCT in student services
  • Condom promotion and provision
  • Accessibility of emergence contraceptive
4. Care and support for positive individuals to ensure continuity of education Type of services delivered;
